I’m Sylwia, an Edinburgh-based wedding photographer and the face behind Crofts & Kowalczyk, creating natural, editorial photographs for couples getting married in Scotland and beyond.
My approach is personal and unobtrusive. I want your photographs to feel like you — not like a template. I'll take the time to get to know you, understand what matters to you and create something that feels considered, natural and completely your own.

I photograph weddings ranging from intimate city celebrations to wild coastal weddings, beautiful country houses and some of Scotland's most spectacular castles. I work as a duo with my husband Simon who is the filmmaker behind our sister brand Wild Call Films. He creates cinematic wedding films for couples who want to remember not just how their day looked, but how it felt. We have our studio in the buzzing seashore Leith district, from where the magic happens.
No two weddings are the same
I really want to get to know my couples better before the day so that I’m not a stranger turning up at the wedding, and I can adapt my approach to your priorities and personalities. I don't have a set formula for how your photographs should look. Some couples want a quiet, documentary record of the day. Others want something more fashion-led and expressive. Most want a mixture of both.
I'll work with you to understand what you want to remember, what makes the two of you tick and what makes your wedding yours. I'll create photographs that reflect that. And after the wedding I will put love and care into preparing the images to give a beautiful artistic interpretation of the day.

Cinematic wedding films
For couples who want both, we can work closely together on the day through our Fusion offering — photography + film created side by side. Simon creates wedding films through Wild Call Films, capturing the movement, voices, music and atmosphere and bringing moments alive.
We’re Sylwia & Simon
Hello hello, this is us.
We’re Sylwia the Photographer, and Simon the Filmmaker, although often just to confuse everyone we’re either both photographing or both videoing together. We help one another out all the time.
We both have art practices, hold exhibitions of our work, and shoot for brands and magazines around the world. And we count ourselves so lucky to have the privilege of working and having the opportunity to spend so much time alongside the person closest to us in the world.

If we had to plan our wedding again, the first vendor we know we would rebook would be Crofts & Kowalczyk (Simon & Sylvia) for the photography.
The two of them are such kind and talented people, and it transferred into everything they did on the day. They blended into our day so effortlessly, and somehow managed to capture the most amazing moments. We were so at ease in their presence and it really made it easier to get natural poses for the portrait session after the ceremony.

They are such lovely people while remaining very professional and the right level of consultative. They have lots of experience in Wedding photography so we felt in safe hands but they’re also super creative so the blend makes them stand out from lots of other photographers that do wedding after wedding and can get a little ‘samie’. I couldn't have dreamed of better photographers at our wedding. Here are my three top reasons to choose Simon and Sylwia:
1. You want to surround yourself with nice people on your wedding day. Simon and Sylwia are such a lovely couple. They bring joy, and laughter and make you relax. To me this is essential. Also, you get to know them a bit in advance, and they feel like natural guests. All emailing and contact have been so smooth.
2. Since they are two, you get photos from two simultaneous events in different places, for example bride and groom getting ready. And group photos. Some things are good do efficiently, so there's more time for the fun parts.
3. The photos are absolutely wonderful. If you want to look good on your wedding day, go for these people. ;) Even more important (for me at least) is that they managed to truly capture the wonderful atmosphere on our wedding day. Sharp photos of people moving, dancing, laughing and having fun. I don't know how they managed to do that. The result is priceless.
I couldn't recommend Sylwia and Simon more.
